EDbN Goals: -To take action to achieve the recognition of deafblindness as a unique disability on all political and administrative levels throughout Europe. -To improve the situation of deafblind people in Europe with the objective of achieving their equal rights and full participation in society. -To be a European forum for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the area of deafblindness. -To represent and support deafblind people and their families to have a better quality of life. This includes representing deafblind people who cannot speak for themselves. In order to achieve EDbN aims, its main funcion is to campaing at all political and administrative levels in Europe, through the following actions: -Supporting members of EDbN with campaigning to achieve the recognition of deafblindness in their own countries. -Organising email networks to enable to the sharing of knowledge and information in area of deafblindness throughout Europe. -Collecting and distributing information about the situation of deafblind people in Europe to support the campaigning aims of EDbN. -Establishing and maintaining relationships with the European Union (Parliament, Commission and Council); with the national councils of people with disabilities; with European non-governmental organisations of people with disabilities; with the institutions of the United Nations; with international organisations in Europe and with the regional offices of the international organisations whose aims are in accordance with those of EDbN and its members.
